Two promises written into the product: ① Any feature that is already free will never move behind a paywall. ② Beyond cross-network Remote Access (the only part with real server costs), there will never be a second subscription. We've watched too many utility apps earn a bad name locking features after the fact — we won't walk that road.

Why is the local network free?

Because on the same Wi-Fi, streaming is a direct peer-to-peer (P2P) connection — screen and control data travel directly between your own devices, never through any server. No server cost means no reason to charge. That's why every local network feature can be free forever.

Only when you're away from home and connecting back across networks do our servers come into play: a signaling server relays only the small connection-setup messages and never touches screen content, and free public STUN assists NAT traversal; if a direct link still can't be made, the stream is relayed through a server that cannot decrypt it. On the same network or not, all screen and input data is end-to-end encrypted — we cannot access it, and we never store it.

Pricing FAQ

Does the local network (same Wi-Fi) cost anything?
Nothing at all. Everything on the same Wi-Fi — the three control modes, the fully customizable virtual controller, Single-App Streaming, multi-display, PiP, the magnifier — is free forever, with no one-time-purchase tier. On the same Wi-Fi, streaming is a direct peer-to-peer link between your devices that never passes through our servers, so there is no server cost.
What is the only thing I pay for?
Only cross-network "Remote Access" — for when you're not on the same Wi-Fi and want to reach your Mac at home from outside. US$2.99 per month, or US$19.99 per year (about US$1.67 a month, best value). Beyond that there will never be a second subscription.
Why is Remote Access a subscription?
Cross-network connections require us to run servers: a signaling server that relays the small connection-setup messages (never touching screen content), free public STUN to assist NAT traversal during pairing, and a relay that carries the encrypted stream when a direct link can't be made — an ongoing hosting cost. On the same Wi-Fi you never need it, and it stays free forever. Connections remain end-to-end encrypted; we cannot access or store them.
Does the free version have time limits or countdown-locked features?
No. On the same Wi-Fi it is the complete, fully usable product: every feature included, encrypted pairing, auto-reconnect — no time limit, no watermark, no reduced quality.
Does the shared side (the Mac being controlled) cost anything?
Free forever. TouchNow Host is a free download from touchmac.app (it is not on the Mac App Store) — install it, grant the permissions, and your iPhone or iPad can connect. No payment involved.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple: file a request at reportaproblem.apple.com. We put up no obstacles whatsoever.
